How to open a bank account in Australia

We opened our bank accounts at Commonwealth Bank by calling a tollfree number in our ex-country before arriving in Australia. When we arrived in Australia, all we had to was present our passports with our valid visa once we arrived in Australia, and made a deposit of $50! We still using our accounts today!!
